Before we do that, here are the Dyson upright vacuum models that you could choose from.

Dyson upright vacuum Models

Excluding older and second hand models, there are currently 4 different Dyson upright vacuum models available to the UK market, these are.

However, each model comes in different variations.  For example, the Dyson DC14 is available in the origin, all floors, animal and allergy variations.

Choosing the right Dyson upright

By now, you know which features are most important to you so we will go ahead and list which vacuums fit those features.

Lightweight Dyson's

 The most lightweight Dyson upright is the Dyson DC24.  It also has ball technology to enable easy manouverability.  It comes in the all floors version only.  You can see our full review here.

Of the full sized uprights, the DC25 is the most manouverable because it also has ball technology.  The DC25 comes in the all floors and the Animal versions.

Pet hair removal

If you have hairy pets, vacuuming their hair up can be a pain.  Dyson invented the Animal range of vacuums to combat pet hair. 

If you think the animal is for you, if comes in the DC14 and DC25 models.  The DC14 is the cheaper of the two vacuums.  The DC25 is a newer model with ball technology for easy manouverability.

Carpets & Hard floors

If you have a house with both carpets and hard floors and you want to switch between them quickly and easily, an all floors model is best for you.

All floors allows you to switch surfaces with the flick of a switch.  The DC14, DC24 and DC25 all come in an all floors variation.

Asthma and allergies

If you suffer from asthma or allergies, you will be glad to know that all Dyson upright vacuum cleaners are British allergy foundation (BAF) approved.  The Asthma and allergy association of America also certify Dyson as "Asthma friendly".

So whichever Dyson you choose, you should be less suceptible to asthma/allergies.  There is one Dyson built specifically with allergy sufferers in mind - the DC14 Allergy.

The DC14 Allergy has an additional bactisafe screen on top of its hepa filters in order to reduce allergy suffering even more.

Price

If price is the most important factor, the DC07 is currently the cheapest upright.
